Additional day: A Golden Sunday: Gold Painting on Leather Sunday 10.30am - 4pm Painting (and painting on leather) is a master skill separate from the bookbinding and leather book cover process. If you want to go more in depth, this is an optional day with master painter Vaishali Prazmari where you can spend the whole day just painting on your leather cover. The painting process takes time and cannot be rushed. Please note that this class is for people who already have their leather book bound and ready to paint on the cover. £95 Minimum 4 students You will need: your leather book, shell gold paint and fine brushes. I recommend the following for shell gold paint: https://www.cornelissen.com/water-colour/genuine-gold-watercolour.html otherwise you are welcome to use any other shell gold paint you have. I can provide brushes, however since this involves gold paint I recommend you bring your own. The Islamic Book Covers series (Safavid Persian, Mughal Indian, Ottoman Turkish, North African, Arabic) aims to teach a comprehensive introduction to Islamic bookbinding. In this class we will be making an A6 book with Islamic binding techniques including the iconic envelope flap that is the hallmark of Islamic book design. This is a book you can hold in your hands and cherish. Use it as a notebook, sketchbook or journal.
